Catalogue Note
F. Petrucci (Ferdinand Voet (1639-1689), Rome 2005, p. 244, no. 207) records another version of this portrait formerly in the Palazzo Altieri, Veiano, but which he considers to be most likely 'una copia di bottega'. On the basis of photographs Dr. Petrucci has kindly suggested that the present painting may therefore be the prime original.
