Catalogue Note
Apparently unpublished. This is a substantial contribution to the eighteenth-century French horn duet, a repertory graced by Mozart's duets K.487 (1786). The major English printed collections include Forrest Harmony (c.1733), containing arrangements for French horns of pieces from Handel's Water Music, Humple's A Collection of Duets for French Horns (1763) and Walsh's collection Forty Select Duets (c.1757). The pieces in the present manuscript are rather similar to Humple's collection of 21 horn duets, but are musically distinct and form a much more substantial corpus.
