Description

  • Typed letter signed ("C.G. Jung"), to Dr. E. B. Strauss, about pre-war politics

concerning the forthcoming Tenth International Medical Congress for Psychotherapy, explaining that paragraphs 2, 3 and 4 of the regulations allow for the participation of everyone, regardless of their political or religious convictions, noting that the question of race is not mentioned at all, and stressing that he 'cannot and shall not exclude non-arian speakers', asking for a list of the names which have elicited discussion, insisting that the only condition which he demands is that everybody 'refrains from making remarks apt to arouse the political psychosis of our days', concluding that a scientific congress is not the place 'to indulge in political follies', 1 page, folio (29.4 x 20.8cm), later pencil annotation to upper left-hand corner, Küsnacht-Zürich, 26 March 1938, splitting along central horizontal fold, tiny tear to right hand margin, pinholes to upper left-hand corner, light creasing
