Condition

Please note that the base is not original to the piece. The sculpture is in very good condition considering its age and the fragility of the material. It displays an aged surface with minor dimensional cracks that are apparent along the grain of the wood. These cracks are characteristic of aged wood. An old repair was noted on top of the sculpture. The filled crack ran 3/4 around the width of the top element and appears lighter in color. White paint was observed in the tiny pits in the wood grain on one side of the sculpture. Midway down the sculpture faint white fingerprints could be seen on the surface. It seems likely that white paint got on the surface and was wiped off leaving traces of it in the grain of the wood. The base that supports the sculpture displays significant damage on its corners. A small piece of wood on one of the corners is currently taped to the base. Paint loss and gouges in the wood were also evident on the base. The sculpture is dusty. (This condition report has been provided courtesy of Wilson Conservation.)
