Catalogue Note

Gideon Ofrat described Pann's biblical portraits as follows: "A sublime blend of beauty and Eros. In this a principal role is played by the splendid apparel and jewellery with which he bedecks his women. The decorativist inclination of the symbolist painters found its expression in Pann's ennobling ornamentation of his women." (Exhibition catalogue, Mayanot Gallery, Jerusalem, 1987, p. 16).
