Condition

Overall in very good condition. The fine bronze filigree decorating the exterior of the shade appears totally intact and in excellent condition. All of the amber glass panels on the shade are intact and appear to be in very good condition. The interior sides of the glass with some surface soiling, traces of old adhesive, and some scattered surface irregularities to the finish throughout. There are 70 ball-and-chain devices evenly suspended around the perimeter of the shade (it is possible that a few are missing) which all appear consistent and of the period. Wonderful jagged-form amber glass cabochons ornament the exterior of the shade just below the rim, all of which are intact and appear to be undisturbed. The blown favrile glass body of the base is in very good condition with no visible cracks or condition issues, and with some occasional small and minor inclusions and imperfections inherent in the making. The base has eight bronze feet inset with deep blue iridized tear-shaped glass tiles, all of which appear original, undisturbed and in very good condition. The bronze surfaces throughout on the base and shade with some occasional light rubbing to the patina, most notably to the top surfaces of the ball-form terminals around the shade rim. The lamp retains its original oil canister with two gas valves. The lamp has been converted to electricity, and its central socket is presently fitted with a European socket. The lamp presents beautifully in person, and is a superb intact example of Tiffany’s early explorations with Moorish-style lighting.
