Description
- Tiffany Studios
- "Crab" Inkstand
impressed 49233/TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK/2 with the Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company monogram
- patinated bronze with mounted shell and clear glass inkwell
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The bronze surfaces throughout retain a rich dark brown and russet brown patina, showing gentle rubbing and light surface soiling in some of the recessed contours consistent with age and use. The mounted shell appears to be original and undisturbed, with surface soiling. The interior lid of the ink pot with some traces of surface oxidation and discoloration. The interior storage compartment inside the crab with traces of light oxidation, one very small loss to the patina, and a few small scattered transparent ink spots. With period clear glass liner which has one small surface fleck to rim. A very fine example of this wonderful desk object.
