Description

  • struck with pseudo-mark of Feodor Rückert, apparently overstriking another maker's mark

  • Gilded silver, enamel, copper, wood with velvet backing
  • Height 4 3/4 in.
  • 12.1 cm
the shaped oklad enameled with geometric ornament in muted tones against a stippled gilt ground, the Christogram and Alpha and Omega enameled in blue in a triangular reserve, with shaped suspension ring; the icon with three male saints shown at full length, their robes highlighted with extensive chrysography

Condition

overall good condition; the icon painted on metal has been overcleaned so that inscriptions are lost, the saints' faces darkened and some minor losses to their robes, one small crack to enamel of purple roundel at lower right
