Description
- Gabriele Bella
- Venezia, ArsenaleVenezia, festa nella piazzetta
- olio su tela, una coppia, senza cornice
Condition
The paintins are slightly warmer in tone than the catalogue illustrations suggest. The canvasses have recent and quite stiff relinings which have not, however, flattened the paint surface. To the naked eye the paintings appear in good condition. Inspection under UV light reveals minor scattered retouchings with some strengthenings, for example in the window bars of the Arsenale, which are not intrusive. Retouchings flouresce along some old frame abrasion in both paintings. The Arsenale painting has a restored hole of 5 x 3 cm lower right. The paintings retain their decorative value and are offered unframed.
