The colours in the catalogue are representative of those in the painting. The canvas has bee relined and it is offered unframed. To the naked eye a longitudinal line of repair is apparent above the Madonna’s head as well as an area of repair in the sky and another one on the Madonna’s left shoulder. This restoration is clearly visible from the catalogue illustration as well. The thick varnish layer impedes clear inspection under ultra-violet light but the aforementioned restoration is slightly visible, as well as three minor areas in the lower right corner, behind the Madonna’s ear and to the left of her head.
