  • Still life with Wallnuts, a pipe and hourglass on a grey marble ledge
  • signed lower right on the ledge: Parra
  • oil on panel

Provenance

E. Pérez Palacio (from an inscription on the reverse)

Condition

The panel is made from a single piece of wood, and has a slight horizontal bow. There is a small loss to the back of the panel in the lower left corner. Overall the painting appears fresh and presents strong image, with good paint retention. There are some small retouches visible under UV, most notably in some of the darker browns of the nuts. There is also a bit of reinforcement along the green pigments in the background wall pattern. There is a varnish which has been applied throughout the entire panel, and fluoresces under UV with varying shades throughout the composition. Despite these retouches, the painting presents a strong image and is in favorable condition. In a carved and giltwood frame with a few small losses to the gilding around the edges.
