Description
- Frans Ykens
- Still life of roses, tulips, narcissus and other flowers in a glass vase
- oil on panel, branded on the reverse with the hands of the city of Antwerp
Condition
The panel, which consitst of one piece, is sligthly bowed and bevelled on all four sides. The paint surface, which is covered by a very dirty varnish, appears to be in very good condition. it appears that the painting was once revarnished within it's frame, as a result of that, the varnish layer is rather uneven especially at the edeges which have not been covered by the more recent layer of varnish. Ultra violet light is impeded by the varnish and it is possible that there are some old resotration that will show with cleaning. This picture will greatly benefit from a sesitive professional cleaning. Offered in later guilt wood frame in good condition. FP.
