Description

  • 18 karat gold, jade, enamel, diamond, platinum, seed pearl
Composed of a jade hoop and disk, set with small rose-cut diamonds, applied with black enamel, manual movement, mounted in 18 karat gold and platinum, dial signed Cartier, France, movement signed European Watch and Clock Co. Inc., suspended from a platinum and seed pearl chain, circa 1925, length 72 inches.

Condition

Losses to the enamel along the upper trim of the drum (as seen in catalogue illustration). Minor discoloration to the dial. The drum is topped with a jade disc (not visible in illustration) of a slightly more bluish green color than the jade used for the suspension hoop. The off-round, silvery to creamy white seed pearls range from approximately 3.0 to 4.5 mm and present generally fair luster with varying degrees of pink, purple, blue and green overtones. Generally minor to moderate blemishing with the occasional peeling or cracked example seen under close inspection. Movement is currently running, 19 jewels, 8 adjustments, caseback engraved E.W. & C Co Inc., France, numbered 12637.
