each made up of twelve engraved and hand-coloured gores, a brass meridian graduated on one side, the terrestrial engraved to the opposite side at the north pole with calendrical variation, each with a separate scale and ring to indicate the declination of the sun, the terrestrial incribed in a cartouche To His Most Sacred Majesty, GEORGE THE THIRD, King of Great Brittain &c., This new Globe of the EARTH, correctly laid down according to ye Observations & latest Discoveries, Is most humbly Inscribed, By His MAJESTY's, most dutiful & obliged Subject & Servant, G. ADAMS., Sold by G. Adams, Mathematical Instrument Maker to the King at Tycho Brae's Head, Fleet Street LONDON., the celestial inscribed in a cartouche To His Most Sacred MAJESTY, GEORGE THE THIRD, This New Celestial Globe, containing all ye Southern Constellations lately observed at the Cape Of Good Hope, & all the Stars in Flamsted's British Catalogue, is most humbly Inscribed by His MAJESTY'S most dutiful & Obliged Subject & Servant, G. ADAMS. Sold by G Adams, Mathl, Inst Maker to ye King, Fleet Street, London, each with an oak horizon applied with an engraved and hand-coloured scale with calendar and zodiacal signs, on a turned column with cabriole tripod supports joined by a compass; each with a later mahogany travelling case
Condition
Globes in good condition. Horizon rings have some minor losses, scratches and marks. Stands in good condition, compass to terrestrial is replaced and lacking glass. Cases are later and have minor marks dents and scratches.
