Description

  • Ormolu & Enamel
  • Clock 51cm. 20in. high: Bracket 24cm. 9½in. high
5¾-inch enamel dial signed Jouard A Paris, finely pierced and chased gilt hands, the bell striking movement with five tapered pillars and numbered outside count wheel, signed on the backplate as the dial, later Brocot escapement and suspension, the waisted rococo case surmounted by a putto and applied with floral sprays and flying dragons, with a conforming wall bracket, both case and bracket with 'C-couronne' stamp

Condition

Dial has some chips around the winding holes and the gilt fleur de lys half-hour markers have been erased. Movement is complete but very dirty and much in need of a clean and service, later conversion to Brocot escapement and suspension. Case in generally good condition and retaining much of the original gilding although with some marks and rubbing. With replaced pendulum but no winder. Good model and attractive to find it complete with cartel and bracket. The chasing is of a fine quality as is the gilding. Good composition of the model. Highly recommended.
