Catalogue Note

Accompanied by the artist Sam Borenstein, Jackson made his annual trek up into the Laurentians instead of down the St. Lawrence in 1964.  He was nearing his eighty-second birthday.  Despite cold weather and age, Jackson was still able to create a fine sketch of this landscape near St. Agathe.

Naturally, it has echoes of his numerous trips into rural Quebec in earlier years, but nevertheless it has more panache, strength and perception than some of his other late work.
