Catalogue Note

The inscription on the reverse reads:

Painted on the spot - The road from the village of Perkinsfield turns right and a mile Westward the Georgian Bay opens before your eyes, a few yards to the right of this road.  The scene depicted hereon was painted on a brilliant Saturday in June of 1931.  The sparkling blue waters of the bay seen through the trees was the "raison d'être."

Johnston liked the area enough to open an art school at a cottage he built nearby.
