Catalogue Note
The Oldman River is in southern Alberta. It flows roughly west to east from the Rocky Mountains, joining the Bow River to form the South Saskatchewan River which then drains into Hudson's Bay.
Jackson has brilliantly captured the natural palette of Southern Alberta. The panel is nearly monochromatic, but the subtleties of colour, high vantage point, receding horizon and faint allusion to an approaching storm conspire to create a captivating image that endures.
