Banner inscribed "WILHEL WAGONER :LIBE: 1816"
Label in chest states "Probable origin in Tylersville, Center (now Clinton) county. All chests of type have been dated 1816 - likely only year in which they were made. One in DuPont coll. This chest was found in mountain home about 10 miles from Tylersville. All have high bracket foot, unusual diagonal underbracing. Were probably made by decorator himself, identity unknown to date. Formerly Paul Auman.

Condition
3 Inches of proper left rear foot facing lacking. Minor scratches to top. Paint overall is in very fine condition with minor age related crazing. Original key located in parts box.
