Condition

In overall good condition, with weathering to the surface. Overall with very minor chips, dents, marks and scratches.

Catalogue Note

The original vase was disigned, as illutrated in John Vardy's Some Desgings of Mr. Inigo Jones and Mr Wiliam Kent (1744), for Mr Pope. Quite a number of stone vases of this design were produced and one of the most impressive, standing on his pedestal at least fifteen feet high, adorns one of the vistas at Longford Castle, Wiltshire (circa 1765).
