Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is minor surface soiling and staining throughout. There are a few minor surface abrasions in the upper left quadrant in the blue pigment, the most pronounced measuring 2 1/2 inches in length.

"Edge is drawing and drawing is always on the surface.  The color areas take on the appearance of overlay, and if the conception of form is governed by edge- no matter how successfully is possesses the surface- paint, even when stained into raw canvas, remains on or above the surface.  I think, on the contrary, of color being in, not on the surface."  Jules Olitski
