Description

  • 17cm, 6 5/8 in high
tapered cylindrical stems rising to octagonal knops, the bases engraved with a crest, the undersides with scratch weights '13-10' and '14-3'

Condition

Fully hallmarked on undersides, the marks clearly struck; the sconces maked with the lions head erased only which is slightly worn but still visible; overall some surface wear commensurate with age and the engraved crests are slightly worn (as seen in catalogue photo); nice patina and weight; overall good. Catalogue Note

The crest is that of Monson probably for Sir Henry Monson, 3rd Bt. who succeeded with the title upon the death of his grandfather in 1683 and died in 1718. His descendants became Barons Monson of Burton co. Lincoln.
