Description

  • PORCELAIN
the cover painted with two five-claw dragons contesting a central flaming pearl amongst flame and cloud scrolls within a raised ingot-shaped panel, the rounded sides of both box and cover with borders of striding dragons facing opposite directions, the rims with saw-tooth borders

Condition

The box and cover are in good condition with the exception of a 4 x 5mm., glaze flake to the front edge of the cover and a small area of associated rubbing to the glaze, a 2 x 1mm., flake to the rim, loss to several sections of the rim flange on the box (10, 6, 4, 2 and 1cm., wide sections), a 5mm., area of glaze rubbing to the edge of the rim, a 7 x 5mm., flake and rubbing to the footring, minor glaze firing imperfections to the base and cover including iron spots, hairline glaze firing cracks, burst glaze bubbles and light glaze scartches.
