Description

the circular pale celadon jade inlaid with a fitted mirror, secured by a bat-form gilt bronze fitting connecting to a long flattened jadeite handle of rectangular section, back of the mirror set with a gilt-bronze plate secured by a pair of bats

Condition

The overall condition of the mirror is very good. The back of the mirror opens up when the wings of the bats slide down to unlock the back-plate. There is a little light oxidation to the mirror surface. The white jade frame is in very good condition and evenly white with a few light veins at the top. The green handle is mottled and slightly paler than the catalogue photo. There is light wear to the gilding on the gilt-bronze bat handle. The wear is on the underside of the wing and may be from a stand that held the mirror in place.
