Description

  • Bronze
the compressed globular body rising from three short conical feet to an everted rim, set at either side with a pair of simple loop handles, the base cast with an apocryphal two-character mark of Xuande, the metal patinated to a rich chocolate tone

Condition

The censer is in very good condition with the exception of some tiny nicks to the rim and a slightly uneven area of patination to a circa 4 x 2cm., area around one leg. It should be noted the patina is of a slightly warmer tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
