Description

  • PORCELAIN
each painted with a leaf-shaped panel of an elephant with attendants amongst plantain, on a 'cracked ice' ground with reserved foliage, below a band of descending leaves at the rim

Condition

One jar and cover are in very good condition with the exception of a small area of restoration to the rim of the cover (approx. 1cm x 0.3cm) and a horizontal firing crack to the interior of the vase that extends around half of the body which is lightly visible from the exterior. There is heavy restoration to the cover of the second vase and restoration to the rim of the second vase (approx 7cm x 2.5cm), and two vertical firing cracks to the interior (approx 7cm and 4cm). Overall both vases and one cover there are pinhead size iron spots, tiny firing imperfections and very light surface scratches overall.
