  • Bamboo
the compressed globular body rising from three lion-head and paw cabriole legs and set at the shoulder with a pair of S-shaped handles, carved in low relief around the exterior with lotus strapwork, the domed cover carved with two large ruyi-shaped panels divided by pierced lotus scrollwork, the detachable knop encircled by a lotus-lappet band

Condition

Tripod censer: The censer and cover are in very good condition with the exception of possible minor filled-in restoration to the inner rim of the censer (approx 4cm), possible re-pasting of one of the handles to the circular knobs, repair to the opposite handle which appears to have been a clean break, and two rim cracks to the cover, one of which runs through to the knop.
