Provenance

Collection of Captain James Jameson and thence by descent to the present owner.

Condition

This painting is in reasonably good condition, but it has been religned and there is some cracking to the canvas and some areas of flaking paint to the upper right hand side. There is a Y-shaped repair 3cm by 3cm to the lower right side to the front archer on the far right group. There is also an L-shaped repair to the lower left corner (5cm x 1.5cm) and there is some buckling to the canvas to the left and upper left edge. The varnish has worn unevenly, leaving a rather streaky yellowy brown surface.
