Description

  • Jade
the S-shaped shaft inlaid to the terminus, middle and ruyi head with finely carved white jade oval plaques, each carved with flowers and trees issuing from rockwork, the shaft further inlaid with a calligraphic inscription in silver wire

Condition

With the exception of repair two clean breaks to the shaft near the head, a 6cm repair to the left side of the head which appears to have been a clean break, the loss of silver inlay to approx. ¾ of the border enclosing inscriptions at the top and 1/3 of the border at the bottom of the shaft, and very minor losses to the extremities of the jade carving, this sceptre is in good condition.
