Description

  • ceramic
painted in purplish cobalt-blue to each face with rectangular panels enclosing birds perched in fruiting and flowering branches, below a band of peony roundels on a diaper ground at the shoulder, with a wide band of lappets at the foot

Condition

This vase is in good condition, but does have a (16cm) firing crack to the foot and a burst bubble below this. There is also numerous burst pin-hole sized burst bubbles and iron spots to the exterior and two small raised areas (bumps) to the glaze. The rim has four small areas of yellow/transparent glaze and the luting line to the centre of the vase can be seen fairly easily to the eye.
