  • A Samian Ware Pottery Bowl
  • terracotta
  • Diameter 9 1/16 in. 23 cm.
covered in polished red slip, with splayed foot-ring, the vertical walls molded in relief in Barbotine style with a dog in pursuit of a hare, scrolling ivy leaves in between.

Condition

Repaired from mostly large fragments, with some areas of skillful restoration on the rim and smaller ones elsewhere. The glaze and exterior decoration are in good shape, except for the muzzle of the dog which is restored.
