Condition

The head is as shown in the catalogue photo, no restoration but very weathered, worn, and chipped, with some modern scratches and abrasions; an old French label adheres to the back (perhaps Dikran Khan Kelekian, from whom Cole Porter's close friend Howard Sturges acquired at least one antiquity which he gave or left to Porter; see Sotheby Parke Bernet, N.Y., Dec. 14th, 1978, no.347). The terracotta has badly restored feet and arms, the head is re-attached, the surface encrusted and rubbed in places. The lower part of her garment, made separately, has been re-attached.
