Catalogue Note

Leaving behind the feminist and political statements of the 90s, Hale Tenger has moved into a more mellow phase of artistic expression, embodying not so much fervent opinions of her socio-political milieu but more her philosophy of life.

"We are so Lightly Here" is a quotation from Leonard Cohen's song Boogie Street a reference to the way in which we come to life, our existence and the way in which we leave it. Like a gentle breath of air, barely leaving a trace on the world. Skilfully created from cast bronze, it is a symbol of harmony and enlightenment and gentle reminder of how to live and love.
