Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. As is to be expected for a work of this age and type, there is wear and slight loss to the original paint on the rods and the edges of the elements, as well as an overall aging patina to the paint. The lowest yellow element has blackish rubs along the surface at one tip and the paint is beginning to lift slightly near this area. The blue pigment – and to a lesser extent the black pigment - had degraded somewhat over time and was poorly bound to the metal. Overall the blue and black elements exhibit scattered minute pitting and tiny losses. Some scattered losses on the face and rim of individual elements have recently been inpainted and the overall surfaces consolidated.
