Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly warmer in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Close inspection reveals very faint handling marks towards the top and left edges and a very thin hairline short rub mark towards the bottom right corner, one towards the centre of the left edge, and two minute ones to the uppermost square element towards the centre. Close inspection reveals minute specks of paint loss to the extreme overturn bottom edge and to the extreme overturn of the bottom right edge, and a minute and minor chip to the extreme tip of the bottom left corner. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals small areas of retouching to the top right corner of the uppermost central square, and another to the top left corner of the square in front of that, and a very small spot towards the centre of the top edge of the square immediately below the centre of the work.
