Together with a cream jug decorated with a milkmaid holding a jug while lifting her skirt to reveal her legs; a coffee cup painted with a European man serenading a woman watching a dog from behind a balustrade; and a coffee cup decorated with a shepherd and his herd with fruit harvesters in a river landscape. 5 pieces.

Condition

Saucer: There is fritting to the rim, some of the enamel on the tree has been rubbed off as can be seen in the illustration. Teabowl: It has broken into several pieces and restored, with small areas of fill. Jug: There are areas where the enamel has rubbed off, otherwise in good condition. Coffee cup: There is a circular crack around the upper part of where the handle joins the body and some fritting to the foot. Grisaille cup: the handle has been broken and restored back on. There is a one inch area of repainting at the rim, probably covering a small chip.

Catalogue Note

A teabowl and saucer with the same subject but in a different palette from the Khalil Rizk Collection was sold at Sotheby's, New York, April 25, 2008, lot 135. A teabowl and saucer with the same design as the coffee cup in grisaille, gilt and iron red, also in the Khalil Rizk collection, was sold in the same sale, lot 143. A saucer with the same unusual design as the coffee cup with a shepherd also sold in the aforementioned sale, lot 88.
