Catalogue Note
A fine vividly colored set of Warhol's charming early work, In the Bottom of My Garden. The free endpaper is signed. The front cover is inscribed by Warhol, "to Mrs. Dempster," possibly an affectionate nickname for the book's first owner, Leon Danielian, premier danseur with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo from 1943 to 1958. Warhol was an admirer of Danielian's dancing and executed an ink portrait of him in the late 1950s. This copy of In the Bottom of My Garden bears the stamp of the Andy Warhol Art Authentication Board, which has assigned it the number A118.100.
Sold as a collection of plates.
