A grand anthology of stories, poems, essays and prose sketches, with contributions from one hundred and nine authors, each contribution signed at the end by names such as William Dean Howell, Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Carnegie, and Theodore De Vinne. The Clemens short story, "The Californian's Tale," (pages 154–161) is signed "Mark Twain" in his hand.
