providing recipes for preserves, pickles ("...To pickle Ham's Westphalia way..."), and desserts, remedies from "A Drink for the Ricketts" to "Paracelsus's Weapon Salve ("...Take the Moss of a dead mans scull..."), and household preparations from lip salve to "Irish Usquebah [whiskey]"



88 pages, plus blanks, comprising  50 pages of recipes, 3 pages of additional recipes in a later hand, 28 pages of medical prescriptions, and a contemprary index, carefully written in a single mid-eighteenth century hand, ruled in red and with faint pencil guide-lines, text on rectos only except for later additions, folio (372 x 242mm.), mid-18th century, gilt-tooled green-stained vellum boards in a modern slip-case, portions of three leaves cut away, some light spotting, boards scuffed
