containing 321 numbered recipes with about 50 unnumbered later additions, the recipes ranging from roast eel to orange-flower cake and providing a particularly strong range of cakes and desserts, many entries with the name of the creator of the recipe (including Elizabeth Beale, "Mrs Washington", "Mr Gould the Cooke", Lady Falkland, and several members of the Colchester family) 



68 pages, plus blanks, folio (320 x 205 mm.), in several eighteenth-century hands, with a contemporary index loosely inserted, dated 1722, vellum boards, some leaves fragile at edges, spotting, boards dust-stained
