the first neatly arranged and in several hands, containing detailed recipes for puddings, fritters, cheesecakes, pies, preserves, collaring and potting, soups, wines, etc., c.90 pages, folio (320 x 210 mm.), 1760s, in sewn sections, first page inscribed "Mary Saul 1st Sept. 1763", disbound, some dust-staining and fraying; the second containing recipes for meat and fish dishes, preserves, puddings, cakes, etc., c.75 pages, 4to (220 x 180 mm.), [mid-eighteenth century], contemporary paper wrappers within calf folder, first page inscribed "Eliz: Beaufoy her Booke 1730/1", almost disbound, some fraying and dust-staining, wear to folder; the third with entries grouped under headings (such as sweet and savoury pies, pasties, cakes, broths, dressing fish, pickling and jellies) and with lists of dishes to serve as first or second courses, side dishes or "the middle of the table", 62 numbered pages plus list and table at end, 8vo (190 x 120 mm.), [early to mid-eighteenth century], contemporary panelled sheep, ownership inscription of "Eliza Hoskins 1768" on front endpaper, some loose gatherings, lower cover becoming detached
