Part of a late-seventeenth century manuscript of recipes (including "...A very Excellent Plague water"..."To make White Meed..."), 12 pages, small 4to, unbound, loosely inserted into an early- to mid-eighteeth-century recipe book ("..."An Excilent water for fowle sores", "A Rice florendine" and "to make a dish of snow"..."), 40 pages, small 4to, contemporary calf--a good large late eighteenth-century common-place book containing recipes and poems, c.200 pages, large 4to (c.250-205mm), contemporary vellum boards, book plate of Peter Burrell (Lord Chamberlain), with the ownership inscription of Mount Edgcumbe--together with eight further eighteenth and early nineteenth-century manuscript recipe books, including items and transcriptions dated 1789-1882, vellum boards, half roan and contemporary card wrappers, mainly worn but sound, 2 volumes lacking spines or covers loose (10)
