Arabic manuscript on paper, 30 leaves, 7 lines to the page written in bold Muhaqqaq script in black ink, verses separated by segmented blue bordered gold roundels, surah headings in gold Thuluth script within polychrome illuminated panels with scrolling foliate motifs, margins ruled in colours and gold, the word 'Allah' in gold throughout, illuminated circular marginal devices in colours and gold filled with floral tendrils, opening double page illuminated frontispiece with text in alternating blue and gold Muhaqqaq within cloudbands, the interstices filled with flowers, contemporary binding with gilt-stamped covers densely decorated with chinoisérie cloudbands and scrolling flowers with a border of corresponding lobed cartouches, with doublures decorated with gold filigree work against polychrome grounds, with flap
Condition
In good overall condition, some paper repairs and creasing, a few stains and occasional smudging but ink strong and bold and gold bright, doublure filigree work with some losses and rubbing, binding slightly rubbed with a few abrasions, as viewed.
