This work is in very good condition. Colours are richer and more saturated compared to the catalogue illustration. No traces of retouching appear to be visible under UV light.

"Esaminando le mie preferenze di pittore, m'interessa rilevare come l'arabesco trova la sua radice nel barocco. Ma sia chiaro: arabesco come segno astratto, libero sismografo di un sentire che va oltre la realtà naturalistica. Un impeto di sensibilità che mi portava a segnare con la saliva, col dito, con uno stecco, in modo immediato: 'espressionista' si direbbe oggi; ma che con l'aspra, corrosiva coscienza espressionistica, in quel momento, non aveva niente a che fare. Un segno non decorativo, una registrazione tesa, un'immersione, direi..."
