Description

  • Three Egyptian Alabaster Vessels
  • Alabaster
  • 7 3/4 , 8 1/2 , and 6 1/8 in. 19.7, 21.6, and 15.6 cm.
comprising a 1st/2nd Dynasty bowl with recessed tondo and inward curving rim, a 6th Dynasty vase with pyriform body, short neck, and everted rounded rim, and a 6th Dynasty cylindrical jar with splayed foot and recut rim, the name of Teti, first king of the 6th Dynasty, carved on one side.

Condition

Bowl: repaired from several fragments with two very small areas of restoration along joins. Vase: surface very weathered on onse side, one-third of top of rim abraded, edge of base chipped. Cylindrical jar: base chipped all around, rim ground down, inscription likely to be modern
