  • A Greek Bronze Protome Head of a Horse, Laconian
  • Bronze
  • Height 2 1/2 in. 6.4 cm.
probably from the rim of a tripod, the finely modeled head turned to the right, the ribbed mane falling in from the crest of the neck to the shoulder, plain on the other side, striated locks falling in front of the ears, the large naturalistically modeled eyes with indented pupils.

Both ears and foreleg(s) broken off, proper right nostril filed revealing raw metal, file marks on edge of mane, deep green patina.
