Description

  • wood
of convex form, carved in relief with a voracious animal, probably a wolf, with projecting arms on the lower border, surmounted by a head with exaggerated bared teeth, typical ovoid eye sockets inset with brass tacks for pupils, thick curving brows and short ears; painted overall in red, black and maroon pigments.

Condition

Very good original condition. Typical wear for its age with some minor surface abrasion. It was clearly meant to be inset with abalone but there is no evidence that it ever was.
