The outside lower portion of a tunic finely woven in wool on cotton warps, showing three columns of intricate stylized bird-headed warriors in alternating directions, the upturned heads with sharply downturned open beaks, additional avian motifs on the face, vertically bisected eyes, and with crowns of bird heads with plumes extending at the back, each carrying a double-headed staff, separated by the pale ochre ground, the narrow outside column in compressed version; in brilliant shades of red, blue, pink, green, dark and teal blue, and white, with fringed bottom edge.

Condition

Ovearall a fine example of the tightly woven Huari tunics. Condition is as shown, this is a section of a complete tunic , the weave is extremely fine and colors are brilliant. Missing weft threads on the lower right side as visible, some loss of dark blue-black threads on small areas in 4-6 areas, all visible.
