Catalogue Note
The large hollow figures from the El Zapotal region are notable within the Remojadas style for their expressive and intense quality. A series of these nearly life size figures were found in the 1960's ritually broken, in isolated caches and as groupings conveying mythic or historical themes; for related large figures see Le Fort (2005:76-79); see also Solis and Leyenaar (2002: figs. 44,45 and 178).
