  • clay
twisting to the left with short arms raised and holding an implement in the right hand, wearing incised tunic of dense design, and adorned with a turtle shell carapace pendant, the head with pointed cap (perhaps shell) secured with incised headbands.

Benjamin Johnson Collection, acquired before mid 1970's

Ben Johnson, art historian and conservator, established the Conservation Center at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in the late 1960's, and remained Head Conservator till 1979.

Condition

Overall very good, has clean break and repair at the neck. Otherwise fine. Very nice overall modeling.
